This Cyphostemma is from southeastern Africa, ranging from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa over to Mozambique and up to Zambia.
 
With time, the caudex becomes conical up to 3-5 m tall with gray peeling bark.
 
The leaf tips are rounded and the leaves have wavy serrated edges.
